Hurricane Irma was fast approaching the BVI and we had a busy week of charters booked. Although we didn’t know it at the time, our final charter on Restless Spirit was 2nd September. It was a private hire for 4 people arriving from San Juan, flying in and out specifically to charter with us for […]
Maggie and I headed back to Tortola on January 19th. Our first stop was to Village Cay Marina to see our old boat Restless Spirit. She is tied to the mangroves amongst a fleet of doomed boats, many looked as though they had spent several months under the murky marina waters. It was definitely a mixed bag of emotions for both of us.
I tried every possible idea I could think of to save my beloved boat, Restless Spirit. To me, she was more than ‘just a boat that can be replaced’, she was my dream, my adventure, my new life. Maggie and I had talked about our new life with her many months before we finally met […]
December 6th marked 90 days post Irma. Becoming displaced, losing my home, business and income is one of the hardest things I have ever had to come to terms with. Time moves painfully slowly and since leaving the devastation behind and knowing how lucky I am to have had that choice has been hard on […]
Week 10 and we are still waiting to hear from the Insurance.

Here we are 8 weeks later and we are still awaiting for news on Restless Spirit. Our contact at the insurance seems sure she will be a CTL (Constructive Total Loss), but we have to wait for the claims department to let us know. We are still hopeful that we will be able to repair her […]
Life after Hurricanes Irma and Maria
Thank you for everyone’s concerns and well wishes since Huricanes Irma and Maria. Capt Jeff, Maggie and I are safe and were all on Island during these two massive Category 5 hurricanes. Irma was the largest storm ever recorded in the Atlantic ocean, with sustained winds of 185 mph […]
A great article on the BVI’s. We can take you to the Baths and to checkout the RMS Rhone.
This great article from the BVI Welcome Magazine highlights several of the BVI hidden nuggets of beauty. It’s a delightful read, especially if you are going to hire Adventure Charters BVI for a private charter. We can definitely show you a few of these stops. Getting off the well traveled path leads to some of […]
Forbes has 4 beaches in the British Virgin Islands making their ultimate list. Adventure Charters BVI visits 2 of these! We need to check out Prickly Pear Island and see if we can make it part of our Virgin Gorda trip.
